Kate Hendry’s art practice plays with the intersection between drawing and sculpture. Her abstract works are often developed in series and informed by motifs from architecture and the landscape. Other themes which are reflected in her work include music, language and time. Hendry develops works that sit lightly in space, often changing in density and form due to changes in lighting. This alters the shadows cast by the sculpture which stands in shallow relief.

Hendry exhibits regularly and creates site specific artworks commissioned for residential and corporate settings. Her work is held in private and public collections in Australia and overseas.

I live and work in Narrm, on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, I wish to pay may respects to their Elders past and present and to also acknowledge the other First Nations peoples in my community and throughout Australia.

I recognise the value and impact of First Nations Peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions, the first artists of this continent.
